Do Tall White ETs Live on Orcas Island?
I came across an interesting report the other day about possible aliens, extraterrestrials, ultraterrestrials, non-human entities, or whatever you want to call them, living on Orcas Island. For those unfamiliar with the region, it is an inhabited island located between Washington State and Vancouver Island. The report mentioned a firsthand encounter with one of these Scandinavian-like beings, also referred to as the “tall whites” or the “Nordic aliens” in ufology, which we surprisingly don’t hear as much about nowadays.
Film producer and writer Brent Friedman appeared on the June 21, 2026 episode of the American Alchemy podcast to talk about his firsthand encounter, which left him rather curious about what could actually be residing on Orcas Island.
According to Friedman, he was exploring his friend’s twenty-acre wooded property when he unexpectedly came across an unusually tall man standing approximately twenty feet away. The man appeared to Friedman like a Scandinavian male model with long blonde hair wearing “weird, kind of like European” style clothes. But what immediately caught his attention was that this stranger greeted him by name, saying, “Hello Brent” despite not having been introduced to Brent Friedman to begin with.
But perhaps even more disturbing was the fact that the strange man spoke without ever moving his lips.

Instinctively, Friedman responded with “Hello,” to which the strange man replied, “Turn around and walk the other way,” again without ever moving his mouth.
Friedman said the man did not appear threatening in the least, but the encounter was odd enough that he complied and headed back in the opposite direction. After walking a short distance away, Friedman turned back only to discover that the man had completely vanished from sight.
Afterward, Friedman’s friend later enlightened him about the mysterious reputation surrounding the island and the “tall white people” as they’ve come to be known. Supposedly, there are eight of them who have a secluded compound on Orcas. And they arrive every couple of months via a black, unmarked helicopter to stay there for a couple of days at a time and take advantage of the area’s peak energy to get “recharged.”
When Friedman asked the friend if he had ever met any of them, he said he hadn’t because they are apparently quite private and selective about who they interact with.
However, Friedman relayed a story he heard of how one of these tall individuals entered one of the local bars to have a drink and chat with the locals. The strange man asked the patrons what it is like to live here, to which they assumed he meant Orcas Island, until the man corrected them by saying, “No, here on Earth.”
Now what I find fascinating about this entire account is the similarities to other interviews I have conducted with those who have also come face to face with these strange non-human entities, or NHE. And I’ve found that these “strange people” reports also tend to be similar in nature to those that we commonly refer to as Men in Black encounters.
One of these commonalities appears to be in how the strange individual communicates without ever moving their mouth. Perhaps it is a telepathic communication. And the experiencer follows the command that is given without incident, which is perplexing in itself. Almost like these strange individuals have total control over what experiencers may elect to do, whether or not they fully accept it as something they might normally do. Sometimes this apparent “decision” is just as disturbing as the experience itself because it’s really not a decision at all! Just like how Friedman immediately complied with the tall man’s request to “turn around and walk the other way” despite the oddity of this man having known Friedman’s name without him ever revealing it
Orcas Island is certainly no stranger to strange reports over the years either. Apparently, the region has had its fair share of intriguing local legends and lore surrounding ghostly occurrences and spectral figures, not to mention the idea that the area is said to give off high energy, or, as some speculate, recharge UFOs in the local waters.
A search on the NUFORC database pulls up a few UFO reports associated with Orcas Island, with the strongest being a multi-witness event that occurred on September 24, 1994.
In that particular report, a group of six to eight women was out stargazing from the beach when they witnessed a couple of bright blue flashes in the sky. This was followed by an unusual light that started to zig-zag side to side. The light then shot out another bright light with a “small fiery tail to it,” which zig-zagged down to the surface and disappeared from view. A prolonged low hum was then heard afterward. NUFORC notes that they had five other reports of this event from independent sources, who reported it shortly after it had occurred. The incident also gave rise to electrical anomalies in at least one home in West Sound on Orcas Island.
It is also worth mentioning that the controversial Maury Island Incident of 1947 occurred in the Pacific Northwest, near Tacoma, Washington, 130 miles south of Orcas Island. Many consider that event one of the earliest tales of the more modern-day Men in Black accounts. At the same time, others consider it a complete hoax.
I have a close friend who isn’t that far from Orcas Island, who resides in Port Townsend, to be exact, about sixty miles away. I asked her what she had heard about Orcas Island, and she mentioned that it’s a beautiful place and the place where locals go to relax. But she had never heard of the tall, white beings that Brent Friedman mentioned.
Going back to Friedman’s experience, he alluded to nearly everyone on Orcas knowing about these tall white visitors. Unfortunately, I could not find any reports predating his 2026 interview to confirm that this is a widely reported Orcas Island occurrence. From what I could find, there was certainly earlier material that touches on the lore from Orcas Island, which includes a surprisingly dense collection of ghost stories, cryptid sightings, and other spiritual claims. But no mention of these “tall whites.”
Then again, maybe the tall whites are a somewhat obscure, more modern legend that only those “in the know” might be aware of.
Either way, if you have any knowledge of this or other such strange people encounters, I encourage you to contact me. I’d love to hear about your experience!
